MWC 2019: What the World’s Biggest Mobile Show Has In Store For Mobile Fans

Mobile World Congress is the biggest mobile event of the world where manufacturers showcase their latest devices. Whether you are interested in knowing about the latest smartphones, smartwatches or tablets or want to know about the latest tech trends that will dominate in 2019, look no further than MWC 2019.

With smartphone manufacturer trying to steal the limelight and try to out do each other, it will be an exciting event for tech lovers. Mobile World Congress 2019 will start from 25th February 2019 and will continue till 28th February 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.

In this article, we look at some of the manufacturers and some devices they are planning to release at MWC 2019. Without further ado, let’s get down to business.

Samsung

Samsung fans were expecting something big when the company announced that it will be releasing an upgraded version of popular S8 and S8+ last year but the S9 and S9+ fail to live up to the hype. This led to poor sales and translated into mediocre quarters in terms of sales. In 2019, Samsung is trying to make a comeback with a new and improved design of S10, which might be the most anticipated smartphone of 2019.

Unfortunately, Samsung announced that it will be releasing the flagship phone few days before MWC 2019. What this means that we will surely see S10 in action at MWC 2019. The real highlight from Samsung at Mobile World Congress 2019 will not be S10 but it will be a foldable phone. Yes, you read that right, a foldable phone. Oppo is also planning to release a foldable phone this year. We will see many other smartphone manufacturers join the party very soon. Samsung is also planning to launch a new smartwatch called Galaxy Sport at MWC 2019.

Sony

Sony has long been using MWC as their phone launching event and this year will be no different. Going by the tradition, Sony will launch XZ4 and its more compact sibling XZ4 Compact. Rumors suggest that the new Sony devices will come with triple camera setup on the back and a unique 21:9 aspect ratio display.

LG

One smartphone brand that is quickly lost its Midas touch is LG. The South Korean company use to give Samsung and other mobile manufacturer a run for their money is now lagging far behind in the smartphone race. Apart from few notable mentions, LG has been below par for couple of years now. Can MWC 2019 be the event where LG turn the tables. Rumors suggest that LG will release a major flagship called G8 at MWC 2019.

Huawei

Huawei has made a lot of progress in last few years and has become a force to reckon with. It is directly challenging the likes of Samsung and Apple and beating them in some respects too. The Chinese manufacturer had a wonderful 2018 and will love to take the momentum into 2019.

Huawei is expected to launch P30 in Barcelona at MWC 2019. With their press conference booked for February 24, we could see the latest flagship from Huawei. Moreover, Huawei will look to bring the same technology it used in its flagships (Mate 20 Pro) to mid rangers (P-Series). Another notable mention would be the launch of Honor View 20 Pro which is a subsidiary brand of Huawei.

Motorola

After the acquisition of Motorola by Lenovo few years back, we are seeing some great smartphone coming out of Lenovo-Motorola camp, continuing the legacy Motorola build earlier. Lenovo will launch Moto G7 at this year’s MWC. Instead of going premium, Lenovo will look to hit the sweet price point with their latest devices.

Nokia

Once a market leader, Nokia is slowly clawing its way up but the fierce competition in the smartphone market make it tough. From retro re-releases to affordable Android One offerings, Nokia is trying everything. Nokia is staying tight lipped about which devices they will launch at MWC 2019 but most probably it would be Nokia 9. According to rumors, Nokia will bring back the PureView trademark to its devices for superior camera performance, which has created excitement and buzz amongst shutterbugs.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi is another smartphone manufacturer from China whose graph is going up for last few years. With plans to attract global audience, the Chinese brand is looking to make it presence felt outside the boundaries of China. Although, it is still unclear what Xiaomi will release this year at MWC 2019 but one thing is for certain, there would be 5G enabled smartphone powered by the latest chip, Snapdragon 855.
